Interest in high-quality random numbers has increased in parallel with the increasing demands to secure stored data and network communications with high-quality cryptographic keys. However, as various examples in H. Peter Anvins's talk at LinuxCon Europe 2012 illustrated, dealing with random numbers has many pitfalls for the unwary, and it is easy to make subtle but dangerous errors.
