The server, on the other hand, doesn't use KDE or even Qt, but instead uses node.js, PostgreSQL, and Redis, none of which are particularly KDE-related.
It's unfortunate that you write "use KDE" since for a long time now "KDE" is defined as the community and not the software. We are trying to make this distinction since KDE software has grown far outside what the traditional KDE desktop used to be. Also, a "KDE application" is an application from the KDE community, not an application for the KDE workspaces - previously known as the KDE desktop. A KDE application can be run anywhere: on any Linux/unix desktop, Windows, MacOS X and soon I guess also Android.
