I believe it's still worth mentioning that SuSE is shipping a 2.6.0-test kernel with the 9.0 distibution as this also means they're shipping modutils etc. that are 2.6-ready.

A Feature Tour of New Distribution Releases Posted Oct 9, 2003 3:48 UTC (Thu) by busterb (subscriber, #560) [Link] I have tried Slackware 9.1 with a 2.6-test kernel, and it also works fine out of thebox, since it comes with the latest module-init-tools as well as the older tools for backwards compatibility. It does not come with a 2.6 kernel, but the rest of the system appears ready for it.
