It would be suicide for Linux to let the BSDs disappears.
Linux objective is not to design a single OS to rule them all. Today, even children know that this approach is doomed!
The objective is world domination.
In order to achieve this objective, Linux needs allies, to create an alliance (to rule the world).
Those allies are the BSDs.
So they cannot fail!
