Applicability of face-recognition authentication

Allowing either face recognition or password access is less secure than password alone, e.g. because one's face is public information. Face recognition or fingerprint readers are more for situations where passwords aren't really necessary (cf. MacOS login by just clicking on the appropriate user icon) than for where passwords aren't enough.
