At the very least they let us upgrade kernels without worrying about an 'old' module...
I would be VERY curious to see how the vendor reacts to bug reports. Why not run every test we have against this driver and submit (prioritized) bugs for each and every one we find.
If they fix nothing we understand the limitations of the firmware, we win with every fix provided.
