That's totally evil, but technically do-able if you have a programmable USB device. However, most USB mass storage devices aren't reprogrammable at that level. Requiring users to buy some random dev board off of sparkfun in order to install their new Linux OS is just not going to work, socially.

On the other hand, getting people to boot off random USB sticks (e.g. found on the subway) is not hard… And with a bit of innovative engineering, these sticks may now be more than they seem.
