It was extremely useful for submitting a Smolt profile with a hardware bug report.

Searching the database and generating a meaningful report was almost impossible. And representing the PCI vendor:product in decimal was stupid. Every other app in the world (especially 'lspci') uses hexadecimal.

You can import the smolt data to a local database to do more complicated queries. I still have a dump from last year:
