I have an HTC Desire running Android 2.2 (no more official updates). It has some apps like Facebook on it that I cannot remove as the phone is "locked", even though I'm now "pay as you go", no contract. It also only has 512MB internal storage, so having apps locked like this, especially something like Facebook (I am not a member) is bad. I know I can "root" it but have shied away from this step so far.
What I would love to see is my phone running a reliable and trustworthy free distribution like Debia. Proper support and also where I have control over the OS from people that put freedom first. Jolla looks interesting but I think (and hope) that Firefox OS is a better proposition to me.
