Tizen 2.0 Alpha SDK and Source Code release

The Tizen project has unveiled the first release on the road to its next major release, 2.0. The 2.0 alpha includes both source for Tizen itself and a new build of the SDK. Additions include HTML5 API coverage and a "platform SDK" based on OBS. It is still an alpha, however, and the announcement notes that "there are additional components that we plan to add in the coming weeks, and we will continue to fix bugs and add additional features."

Does Tizen and Firefox OS completely overlap?

HTML-based, but not browser-based

Tizen says "Write apps for us in HTML" like every new device platform (WebOS, Blackberry X, even Windows 8), and it implements some new Web APIs to device functionality. But the phone UI itself is not written in HTML but EFL. You can run the Firefox OS UI in the desktop Firefox browser; phone calls and texting fail, but start screen, app launcher, contacts, calendar, etc. run.
