Security quote of the week

Now that we’ve learned that, historically, 8068 is (was?) the least commonly used password 4-digit PIN, please don’t go out and change yours to this! Hackers can read too! They will also be promoting 8068 up their attempt trees in order to catch people who read this (or similar) articles.

Clearly we should issue a security advisory for people with PINs of 8068, recommending that they change them to 8069. Is there a CERT number yet?

Actually, 8069 is probably *less* secure, for various <snicker> reasons...

It's obvious why 8068 is so uncommon--everyone automatically corrects themselves to 8086 when they type it...
