Well, if that's the case, the best solution is clearly to increase the validity of all patents that are four years from expiration by an year, every year.
Hopefully the trolls will not figure out that cunning strategy, and eventually the grim reaper (or in the case of legal persons, the heat death of the universe) will take care of the problem!
