Thanks for that explanation, it was very helpful.

> And if you can just add-a-key to the BIOS - which is the standard line about "retaining control" on your PC - why do we need the approval process at all when we could all just enter the relevant key into the BIOS for the OS we want to use?

So we can give a Fedora CD to somebody who doesn't know what a BIOS is, and installing it will Just Work.

It should, yes. That's one of the primary reasons we are jumping through all these hoops.
