OpenIndiana lead Alasdair Lumsden resigns

Sounds like he's just pissed because nobody else wants to work on what he wants to work on. Joyent, Delphix and Nexenta are not interested in building a general purpose OS. Thats not where their needs lie. They are developing based on what their company needs. Unfortunately it sounds like the KVM and ZFS changes that those companies are pushing out align with his Desktop OS vision.

If you want a general purpose Illumos OS, OmniOS is actually being updated regularly (unlike OI).
