I had my first encounter with exFAT a couple of nights ago when I tried putting an SD card from my HD video camera into my Linux laptop, and shortly afterwards became very disappointed and had to pass it over to my wife and her Macbook.

There is a FUSE-based implementation: https://code.google.com/p/exfat/ (which is still beta).
