Stable kernel 3.2.27

Parent article: Stable kernel 3.2.27

This particular release seems to have a lot of changes to the kernel's PRNG (drivers/char/random.c). I browsed the diff output and, while some of the changes appear related to arch-specific additions, I have to wonder if some are related to any perceived vulnerability in the kernel's PRNG.

Also, none of the other 3.x kernels released recently have any changes to the RNG. Anyone with extra knowledge about this wish to comment? (Or, might this be a topic of an upcoming LWN article?)

There seems to be a flurry of updates to 3.2.x; I wish to say "thank you" to Ben H. and fellow maintainers for your hard work.

Ahhh, yes, I remember that (I even posted a comment there). But, that doesn't explain why only 3.2.27 is getting additional HW RNG support and not the other 3.x kernels. The article mentions likely inclusion for 3.6, so is perhaps Mel "jumping the gun" and including this in 3.2.27?

The RNG changes are all in mainline Linux and were cc'd to stable@vger.kernel.org. Greg has been on vacation for a while and is a little behind in picking those up, but you should see them in the other 3.x.y series shortly.
