A different kind of bad week
If Linux catches on in the consumer market, it too will acquire agarware that trades security for user convenience. It will always be possible to use, eg., mutt rather than Prospect (Tinysqueeze's port of a well-known virus breeding ground), but the agarware will come, because, as Grimmelman put it, insecure systems do what people want and people make secure systems insecure because secure systems don't. Linux at least gives you the choice of avoiding the agarware.
