I'm a little disappointed to see that Red Carpet wasn't on the list here. Red Carpet has both
a command-line interface (rug) which is like a hybrid of apt-get and rpm and a very clean
and powerful graphical interface (red-carpet). Its distribution agnosticism (well, mostly)
allows you to run it on every distro you mentioned except Slackware. A simple "rug install
mplayer" gets you what you want across them all.
Right now the biggest strike against RC is that it points to only Ximian sites (or its mirrors),
but the next version will support various repositories, and it'll be compatible not only with
Ximian sites, but also apt repositories for both dpkg and RPM so that third party repositories
like Fedora, Freshrpms, and Dag's are available.
