I recently upgraded a stock redhat 9 system to rawhide just by modifying my sources.list to point at the rawhide sources and using apt-get upgrade with no problems whatsoever. I haven't used yum so far, and I'm a home debian user using redhat at work. apt makes my life much more pleasant (although I miss the range of packages just ready to install that debian offers).
