Slackware 14.0 beta

The July 22, 2012 entry in the slackware-current changelog (i386, x86_64) has the announcement that Slackware 14.0 has reached beta. "Howdy! Lots of shiny stuff here, including the long awaited Xfce 4.10! Thanks to Robby Workman for the initial set of build scripts, and lots of testing (plus some very helpful notes about things such as the proper build order). I'm calling this a beta (finally!), and it's really very close to what we expect to release. Test away."

Slackware-current/Slackware 14.0 beta is working fine here. Many thanks to Pat and the rest of the crew helping to make another excellent release.

One caveat to those upgrading to the most recent update, the new udev requires CONFIG_DEVTMPFS=y, so if you have a self built kernel, you may have to ensure that option is selected. The default slackware kernels do have that option included.

Based upon what I have seen in the change log, looks like 14 will be a very worthwhile release with lots of good stuff.
