I would be interested to know how it compares against bup, which I use now.
Previously I used duplicity; I switched to bup not for any fundamental ideological reason, but because it seemed to use less space which is important for me. bup doesn't do encryption natively, but I get around that by doing the backups to an encfs-mounted directory, then rsyncing that directory to the final (remote) destination.

Comparisons with other backup tools would be nice, but it's not something that I (as the Obnam author) want to do, since I don't have in-depth knowledge of most other tools, and I don't want to spend the time to get that. I would rather improve Obnam based on feedback from its users about what is important.
