I went down the same route: I created a shared folder in a DropBox account and gave my accountant full access to that.
* I scan all received documents (the ones that don't already come electronically as PDF).
* Periodically I export my bank statement from my online banking.
My accountant's hourly rate is less than mine so I let her do all the work -- including submissions to the tax office.
