Suse had dependency management even before they switched to rpm packages.
selecting any new package in yast[12] allways gave a set of dependent packages
or would warn about installed packages that are/whre incompatible.
You could then chose to add these atuomatic or manual.
What use would the menue item "check dependencies" other wise have.
Or did I missunderstand the quoted complaint?
