Some black hats is probably crying right now when they lost this backdoor.

They stop that when they realize it takes time for all the myriad Samba installations to be fixed, and some might never be. For example, I wonder about all those inexpensive consumer network storage boxes. Many of them run Linux, and to provide Windows network shares they probably use Samba (is there even any other alternative?). Only the most enlightened users will attempt to update them.
