As near as I can tell, all that is happening is that Blue Systems is going to be paying one person to work on Kubuntu.
That's not nearly the same as saying that they are taking over running Kubuntu like some people seem to be thinking.
This is a noticable chunk of manpower, but IIRC from the answers when Canonical discontinues this support, it's <20% of the manpower of the project
