Because those filthy liars will never stop until they are "DEAD"... Linux/OSS needs badly that the freedesktop.org iniciative, or a similar iniciative, be integrated with the Open Standards LSB... soon. That will be to Microsoft worst than rat poison is to rats.

Merging two standards groups doesn't write code, it makes one really big hard-to-follow standard.

"INTEROPERATION" of all standards is the key word of sucess.
