The last few years, many of my bug reports just end up closed with "We're closing this cause the next release is out" messages. Which has made me it hard for me to continue to invest energy in bug reports. Note that I'd be very happy to pay and enter into a normal, grown-up contractual relationship with someone who could support me in my use of a reasonably up-to-date Linux distro. However, it doesn't seem any such entity exists so far as GNOME3, GNOME-Shell, etc. is concerned.
The lack of any weighty commercial focus behind the Linux desktop the last few years has been very damaging... (And no, this isn't meant to disparage those who've been doing great work on GNOME and the Linux desktop, for free or otherwise).
