Disclosure: I have a relatively fat Internet pipe bidirectionally, so why not put it to good use? In this day and age, I'm loath to download Linux ISOs via HTTP or FTP since BitTorrent is much better for that.
Also, according to this readme, the install DVD does not contain the entire distribution. But, if I were to download and run that, would I still be able to get all the packages I needed for a desktop installation? Maybe I could let yum or up2date (or whatever package manager SL uses) exploit my bandwidth. ;-)
