The roadmap lists moving WebOS to a standard Linux kernel. Now that would be interesting to see. This could mean we could easily see WebOS on devices like the Raspberry Pi, etc.....

I was skeptical until I got a clearance touchpad, the interface is well thought out and frankly better than Android, I understand there are performance issues with the javascript based programming but I think that could be solved with some application flexibility.
My hope is that Android and WebOS will get sorta merged in that the best of both will be integrated into a future product. WebOS multitasking is hands down light years ahead of Android and hopefully the open sourcing will allow android to adopt the card interface that gives it the logical operation multitasking should have on touch based interfaces.

When such things happen the results generally expose the worst traits of both.

Agreed. I'd rather have more Linux phone/tablet alternatives. I'm quite happy with Android, but I'd still like to see more "Linux-y" alternatives.

You'd rather see something like Tizen and webOS merge. Android is too much of a different beast.
