Visual Studio 6.0 never worked to begin with, unless a very loose definition of "work" is applied.
And besides, making old software work on Linux is usually just a matter of installing a few really old libraries.

Please, VisualStudio 6 was a very good IDE. It was fast, snappy and with Tomato plugin it had great autocomplete.

VisualC++ 6 was mediocre, mostly because it hasn't supported features like SFINAE and member templates. But it worked OK for simple C++.
