Ian Clarke on Freenet and his Decision to Leave the USA (GrepLaw)

GrepLaw interviews Ian Clarke. "Freenet is in active use in countries such as China to permit the free distribution of information there despite government censorship. A group, Freenet-China has taken Freenet and translated it to Chinese for this very purpose. Freenet is also actively used in other countries, including the United States, to distribute censored information such as the Church of Scientology 'Operating Thetan' documents." Freedom

Edinburgh is indeed a beautiful city; I lived there for almost a year during the first gulf war.

NYC is also beautiful in its own ways.

In legal terms (including the minutia or the law), which is freer? (eg, which city protects you better against libel laws?) Which is freer in terms of day-to-day living? (eg, in which city can you be flamboyantly gay with the least hassle?)

At any rate, Freenet will give us next to no freedom unless we use it. Thank you, Ian, and bon voyage!

I don't know, but men can wear skirts in Edinburgh and not get laughed at...

:-)

Then Jakarta is also free. As an additional bonus, you get a better protection against terrorism laws. Ever heard of somebody acquitted of terrorist charges in other parts of the world?

I would hope if they didn't do it they would be acquitted.

It happens quite often in countries like Syria and Iran. Maybe some others too.
