It is thus hard to conclude that this code belongs in Linux. And, in fact, it has already been removed from the 2.4 and 2.6-test branches. Absolutely correct. But this calls into question all Linux contributions from SGI. So far, I'm not aware of any public statement coming from SGI by way of an explanation of the memory allocation example, or the legal status of other kernel contributions from them.
