Yes, it's 2011 already. Your computer slurps a hundred lines of text based configuration in a millisecond. You won't even notice. There's absolutely no need to serialize these things in binary any more.

It's both easier and more robust than loading it from an sqlite driver, and you're going to stuff it in your own memory structure anyway.
