Quotes of the week

We do seem to be approaching some sort of agreement ... well I am at least, I cannot speak for others :-)
-- Neil Brown

What I'm saying is that its much better to attack the primary source of evil in a manner that is unforgiving instead of trying to avoid the worst excesses and cause non-obvious breakage.

For a while people were promoting the idea that its good to be lenient in what you accept as input and strict in what you send out. I think people are starting to realize that was a horrid mistake since now they're getting utter crap and people don't even know what right is anymore.

When good SEO happens to bad JavaScript

Posted Oct 20, 2011 21:12 UTC (Thu) by dmarti (subscriber, #11625) [Link]

Part of the problem of ignorant "web developers" (cutters-and-pasters of battery-hoggish JavaScript) is that there is so much bad Javascript out there, and a lot of it is well SEOed and comes up high when a new web developer is looking for a recipe to cut and paste.

If you're not up to threats of violence, just remember when you see a good JavaScript article (try developer.mozilla.org) link to it. Someday we'll drive the recycled 1990s JavaScript "pro tips" off the first page of Google results.
