Mitchell Baker has announced
the availability of the annual State of Mozilla report and associated 2010
financial statements. "As the Internet experience is changing,
Mozilla, too, is changing. The products and tools that we use to advance
our mission are expanding and evolving. A browser is necessary but not
sufficient. Equally important is expanding the number of people who
understand our values and identify as Mozillians. Mozilla has both the
challenge and the opportunity to expand our reach dramatically. We have
the ability to bring our values to life in new ways. Embracing these
opportunities means embracing change, embracing hope and embracing
determination."
Noted patent troll Intellectual Ventures (IV) has filed a patent suit against Motorola Mobility, according to The Wall Street Journal. Evidently IV has been successful in getting other handset makers to license the patents, but there is an interesting twist in this particular suit: "The lawsuit also creates a potentially awkward scenario, with a firm partly backed by Google now presenting a Google acquisition target with a new legal headache. Intellectual Ventures disclosed Google's investment in the firm in May.

Bellevue, Wash.-based Intellectual Ventures filed its new suit in Delaware, alleging that Motorola Mobility has infringed on six patents related to transferring files among computers and technology used in an 'entertainment device,' according to the complaint."
The Linux Professional Institute (LPI) and its affiliate, LPI-Asia Pacific
have announced new LPI-Approved Academic Partners in Malaysia.

The Linux Foundation has announced
the launch of the Automotive Linux Summit (ALS). "The Automotive Linux Summit is the premier vendor-neutral business and technical conference for companies and developers using or looking to use Linux and open-source technologies in automotive applications ranging from in-vehicle on-board system to cloud solutions for vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communications."

The developers of buildroot and crosstool-NG will be holding a
Developers' Day on October 29, 2011 in Prague, Czech Republic. That's the
day after the Embedded Linux Conference/LinuxCon which will also be held in
Prague.
The Zentyal Summit
will be held November 11-12 in Zaragoza, Spain. "Zentyal Summit is a free event that offers an opportunity for current and potential Zentyal users, community members and developers share experiences, meet and discuss with each other as well as learn more about the server distribution."
The folks behind the Southern California Linux Expo (SCALE) are holding a
logo design contest for the January 2012 event. "The designer of the
winning submission will win a free pass to SCALE 10x, including airfare
within the continental United States, as well as a three-night stay at the
Hilton Los Angeles Airport."
The Linux Audio Conference 2012 will be held April 12-15, 2012 at the
Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA), Stanford
