Core PHP Programming, Third Edition- arrives as the long-awaited source of

About the book: updated for PHP 5! PHP 5 is expected to be released by
year's end, and with it will come a new level of Internet pragmatics and
functionality. PHP 5 totally rebuilds PHP's support for object-oriented
programming. PHP now includes exceptions, member access control (public,
private, protected), and interfaces. The new object model allows for genuine
object-oriented programming, and the book now covers design patterns. All

of the two previous editions, is now joined by Zeev Suraski, one of the
co-creators of the Zend Engine (the scripting engine which powers PHP 5),
and one of the co-keepers of PHP. The other co-creator of the Zend Engine
and co-keeper of PHP, Andi Gutmans, tech-edited the book.

About the authors:  Leon Atkinson is Chief Technologist for Clear Ink
Corporation, an agency offering traditional and Web communication services.
He is creator and maintainer of the Free Trade project, an open source
e-commerce toolkit, and an enthusiastic supporter of PHP. He is the author
of the first two editions of Core PHP, which have sold almost 50,000 copies
worldwide. Zeev Suraski is the co-founder and CTO of Zend, a leading PHP
company. Zeev was the co-developer with Andi Gutmans of the Zend Engine, the
scripting engine that has powered PHP since version 3.0. They are now the
"keepers" of PHP. Zeev delivered the closing keynote at PHP-CON 2003, in
which he previewed PHP 5.

Audience: Anyone with a rudimentary understanding of PHP or a similar
scripting language.
