"Once upon a time, Microsoft was the dominant empire and Linux was the upstart rebel child."

Rusling made some kind of Star Wars analogy here that I found disturbing. You had Microsoft as the evil Empire, and you had Linux as the Rebel Alliance. But then he talked about Linus logging on to the internet and asking for help. To me, the idea of Linus Torvalds as Princess Leah, that was an image I didn't need in my head.

Don't worry, there are no parallels. When Linus made his call for help Windows was not even close to desktop dominance. Now Mark Shuttleworth, on the other hand...
