Isn't there a CentOS-6.0 continuous release repository, for security and other fixes from 6.1? As I understand it, that is the only practical way to avoid being without security updates for three to six months after an upstream release.

We used the CentOS-5.6 continuous release repository on several of our systems, and it worked pretty well. When 5.7 was released, there were only a few more packages that needed updates.

There isn't one. It was/is planned but it didn't get finished. And yes, that would be the only practical way that I know of to keep the systems safe.

Any sysadmin using stock CentOS 6 in a live environment at this time is... well... shall I say very courageous? Eg. fully updated CentOS 6 includes remotely vulnerable Firefox and Thunderbird, DOS-able Apache, etc. So either roll up your sleeves and push custom updates or... switch to SL6?

What really baffles me is that this lack of updates isn't mentioned in the C6 release notes or on the web page. I tried to warn the newbies in the forums and I see a similar mailing list thread now and then, but that's it.
