On my Android phone I've used gReader which syncs up with Google Reader. I would have assumed that was using public ASI's rather than scraping the web page.

Been using it for ages, and it's literally my most used app. Highly robust, reliable and performant.

Felippe, there is an API for Google Reader. The problem is the API itself is not fit to the GData. It has something really different on top of auth part.
P.S. For example, I'm using that API to sync my subscriptions from LiveJournal, PicasaWeb, and YouTube to the Google Reader.
