Join the Ukrainian FOSS Community!
Dear colleagues,
My name is Dmitry Spodarets. My team and I organize a number of Free and
Open Source Software related events in the Ukrainian city of Odessa. These
include FOSS Sea Conferemce, Summer and Winter FOSS Fests, WebCamp and
others.
Our events involve people from Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and Moldova, but we
will be happy to expand the geography of our participants, and therefore we
are looking for new participants and partners. We kindly invite you to
join, and distribution of the information about our events among your
friends, at your web resources or in your communities will be highly
appreciated.
Briefly about the upcoming events and the host city:
Odessa is an amazing Black Sea city. See detailed description at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odessa.
FOSS Sea Conference is held in early September (scheduled for September 10
this year, but may be expanded to a 2-day session (September 9-10) if we
have a lot of papers). Key areas of interest: FOSS in science &
research, FOSS solutions for business, and FOSS in supercomputer
technologies. This year we are planning to have two streams and a mini
exhibition of various FOSS projects. The Conference is hosted by the Odessa
National Mechnikov University (http://onu.edu.ua/en/)

Summer and Winter FOSS Fests are absolutely informal events for FOSS
developers and users. Summer FOSS Fest is dedicated to the System
Administrator's Day and is held on the Black Sea shore. Winter Fest is held
at the Bukovel Ski Resort in the Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains. The fests
offer a number of contests and competitions, sometimes with demo zones and
technical presentations and discussions near the fire (in summer) or in the
sauna (in winter).
This summer, FOSS Fest will be held on July 28-31. This year it will
include RootUAHakathon, a 24-hour-long marathon of system administrators
open for teams and individual participants who need to invent and produce a
working project related to system administrating.
