I think I agree with one statement from SCO if I see the ode and the history. Linux is not the operating system that makes a lot of innovation.
And you're making this conclusion based on a simple memory allocator??
There's not a lot of ways to implement a memory allocator like that,
as one of the previous posts above elegantly demonstrated.
There's a _lot_ more to the Linux kernel than just this basic allocator.
Try SMP, try the scheduler, try the VM, try integration with XFree,
various journaling file systems... one could go on and on.
