Seriously: this project needs a new name. The name sounds like Debian, but isn't. This is bound to confuse users.

Quite, as soon as I saw it I thought it was a Debian thingie.Seriously, find sensible names. Yep, here's another example:Note that the name "Chromeless" refers to Mozilla's long-standing habit of calling its existing user interface layer "chrome," and is not taking a swipe at the Google browser. Without Nathan's warning, here I would have been confused again.

Mozilla has been using the name Chrome before Google announced the browser with the same name. Faulting Mozilla for this seems ironical.

I wouldn't have said that one potential user (Nathan) implying in a review that a name may cause confusion or another potential user (me) agreeing with them is the same as 'faulting' Mozilla for the arising confusion.
If you mean that Google should be faulted for it I wouldn't be in a position to judge, but I do think that if the name (Chrome) was already being used in a publicly visible way by another entity (Mozilla) - if that's what you were saying - then to choose the same one was at the very least not very sensible of Google.

But you are overlooking the possibility that Francis's top-secret plan is to build Webian OS into a full-blown operating system by bundling the Webian Shell & related apps on top of a Debian core....
He didn't suggest anything of the sort, but it wouldn't be a terrible idea, either. And he's certainly not unfamiliar with the name....
