Apache votes to accept OpenOffice.org for incubation

Apache held a vote over the weekend to decide whether to accept OpenOffice.org as an Apache incubator project. The result was overwhelmingly in favor of the proposal, so the project will move ahead under the Apache Software Foundation. It will presumably be several months (or perhaps quite a bit more) before the project can get on its feet and potentially be considered for top-level project status.
