Is that really true? I think most of the LGPL authors are still alive and can be asked to relicense. Sure, but why will they want to do that? When people refused to contribute code to OOo in the past (and contributed to GO-OO and later LibreOffice instead) they apparently did that because they wanted to contribute to open source project, not to be free sweatshop for proprietary forks. Apache stewardship does not change anything in this regard: the code will still be used in proprietary forks (such as IBM's one).
