MathML, Firefox, and Firemath

They "compete" for author attention & web support within CMSes, which is what the statement in the article discusses; that situation does not, however, suggest or imply that they have the same goals or that there is animosity between the two camps. One could easily learn both, and a web publishing system could easily support input in both. They are simply formats, after all.
