It all boils down to monolithic kernels vs. microkernels. Everyone knows microkernels are going to take over the world because they are super secure and have tiny interfaces to userspace.
Clearly, this monolithic kernel design Linux uses is a passing fad and we'll all start using HURD once it's ready.
