... I went to a talk by Bob Young who was describing the Red Hat business model. He kept saying that Red Hat's strategy was to build a brand and use that as the selling point. He almost seemed to welcome the idea of competition, so certain was he that Red Hat's brand would give it the edge.
And he was right. Red Hat had (and still has) an incredible brand. It's sad to see the change in their strategy, though when you're up against Oracle, I guess it's difficult to stay true to Young's initial philosophy.
