I think Bruce is reading "BIOS configured" as an adjectival phrase, whereas "configured" is really the verb.

Ahhhh, that makes sense ... for that case I would use 'BIOS-configured', which is, I think, the right way to do it.

I agree, but for clarity I would have written "how the BIOS has configured platform hardware"

I found the sentence difficult to parse as well. As an alternative to adding "has" perhaps you could add "to", i.e. "how the BIOS has configured the platform hardware".
