Sun Joins OSDL

Sun may yet become a Linux company; it has just announced that it has joined the Open Source Development Laboratory. Sun plans "...to help drive the development of open-standard software including Linux and to lend its expertise in the data center and carrier-grade markets."

Who's the next? Oracle? Novell? SGI?...Microsoft? :-) (the last is a joke)
I hope that this aditions agree in consensus terms and not in fighting specs like Web services coallitions for example.

I suspect that Sun is merely a "fair weather friend" - it seems to be playing cards on all fronts without an idea where it's going... first the suspect intellectual property deal with SCO (involving stock options) and now OSDL. By joining OSDL, Sun is indirectly supporting Linux - I wouldn't be surprised if it jumped ship when the SCO thing gets too heated for its liking.
 
Still, it is better than have them onboard OSDL (for however short time) than not.

It's mean that Sun is agree with the OSDL's position related to SCO (develop for Eben Monglen)?. Why they support SCO then?
