The end of OpenID?

The flaw with OpenID is that it should be easy for a user to setup their own website as their own OpenID provider (not just as an alias), so they actually get control of their authentification instead of relying on a large company which can then log all use of the OpenID usage.

I tried to do that and it was far too hard and intrusive and poorly documented.
